ATTENDANCE
The Education Act governs all enrolments and attendance. All non-attendance must be explained. This can be done through the Skool Loop App.

HUI-AA-KURA
Hui-aa-Kura are held every Friday fortnightly starting week 2 of each term at 12 - 12.30pm. All are welcome.

HANGARAU - Manual
All Year 7 & 8 tamariki attend the Hangarau programme at Huntly Primary School. Tamariki are transported to and from HPS.

REPORTING TO WHANAU
In previous years, we have reported to parents twice a year through mid-year and end-of-year reports. However, this year, we are introducing a new approach. Each student will have their own profile book, showcasing pieces of work and outlining their progress throughout the year. These profile books will be sent home, allowing students to share their learning journey with their whānau. Parents and caregivers will also have the opportunity to provide feedback or ask questions directly in these books. Additionally, whānau are always welcome to contact the kura to arrange a time to meet with their child’s kaiako and discuss their progress in person.

We look forward to sharing this new approach with you and strengthening the partnership between home and kura.

LUNCHES IN SCHOOLS
The Kura provide lunches for our tamariki everyday however we encourage whanau to send their tamariki with kai for paramanawa as it is a long way from parakuihi to waa tina!

KURA PANUI
A panui is sent via Skool Loop on the 20th of each month. PLEASE ensure that you have downloaded the app to your device.

WHANAU INVOLVEMENT
The Kura has an open door policy to parents and whanau wanting to come see their tamariki whilst they are here however please contact the tari to let us know so that a time can be arranged before your arrival.

We encourage whanau to be a part of any excursions our tamariki may attend, as support to both your tamariki and staff by way of supervision, transport, etc.

WELFARE OF CHILDREN
Children are not to leave the Kura grounds at any time during the day unless a note or call from the parents has been given.

We ask parents to ensure their tamariki are at Kura on time and able to start classes at 9.00am. Any tamariki not at Kura at this time are recorded as absent/late and parents are asked to contact us via our Comms Hub.

HAUORA
Ensuring the wellbeing of our students is crucial for their progress at Kura. It's important that children are in good health when they come to school. We have a sickbay room to handle minor injuries, and our staff hold current St John's First Aid Certificates. For more serious injuries or illnesses, parents or caregivers will be contacted to either take their child home or to a doctor.

We maintain records of students with special medical needs and ask parents to keep us updated about any changes. If your child requires medication during school hours, please ensure it is clearly labeled with instructions and handed over to us. Medication is administered at Kura once daily for your child's safety.

DENTAL CLINIC
Tamariki are taken to the Mobile Dental Unit which is normally located at Te Kauwhata Primary. Tamariki will be transported to and from their appointments, however parents are more than welcome to take their own tamariki. Any further treatments required will be the responsibility of the parent.

LOST PROPERTY
Clothing and footwear is collected and left in the foyer. It is displayed each week at Hui-aa-Kura and if not claimed, will be given to tamariki who may need uniforms or a local charity. Please name your tamariki kakahu!

PARKING AT KURA
Parents are required to park in the car park situated in front of the Kura when dropping off and collecting tamariki. Please be aware that our kura bus arrives between 8:45am - 9:00am and departs after 3:00pm. Care must be taken to ensure the safety of the tamariki and cars.
